typological sense
   : typological sense
   This word (from the Greek typos, meaning "mark" or "figure," and logos, meaning "word" or "study") refers to a form of biblical interpretation that describes people, events, and symbols of the Old Testament asallegories or types, prefiguring people, events, and symbols in the New Testament; for example, the suffering servant of the Book of Isaiah is often seen as the type prefiguring the suffering Jesus.
